New..Drake
Everybody is on this kids tip like barrack... This new track featuring Tanya Morgan is an unearthed gem from Drake's Comeback Season Mixtape recording sessions. A Toronto native who first got big from his eight seasons on the hit Canadian television show Degrassi, Drake has been labeled the next big thing by everyone from Lil Wayne to Vibe. Being mutual admirers of one another, Drake joined forces with Tanya Morgan for this track. The beat gains strength from its aggressive drums, punchy synth chords and contrasting piano melody, and provides an ideal backdrop for this old-school crew banger. The track opens with a verse by Donwill, moves on to a verse by Von Pea, then a third verse by Ilyas and finally wraps up with a verse by Drake, each emcee spitting about why he is one of the best in the game. With the weather changing and convincing us that summer may still be in line to arrive on time, this is a jam that fits perfectly with the sunshine and should keep you moving straight on through till next fall.
Big up michelle in the boogie down for hittin the mill with this.

Vintage Ludacris on Kiss FM
Luda disturbs the peace on Shortee Blitz & Big Ted's Kiss FM show in London. I'm trying to get my hands on the broadcast audio of this show before I bless you with the full length clip.
Pete Rock & Blak Twang were also in attendance that evening.
Anyone know what year this was?
Daylight Robbery, London Style
Check these dudes out, they roll up to Leslie Davis jewellers in the middle of Oxford Street, London in broad daylight for a quick smash and grab. The bit that cracks me up is hearing them go "whahaaaaaaaaaaay!" as they ride off.
Pigs reckon they also did a midnight raid on House Of Fraser in Oxford St, the Sheraton Park Towers Hotel in Knightsbridge and the Jumeirah Carlton Towers just round the corner yesterday morning, where they were nicked.

wu tang cover
The latest track from El Michels Affair's Enter The 37th Chamber, an album comprised of instrumental renditions of classic Wu-Tang joints, "Glaciers Of Ice" is a shining example of the mastery and virtuosity of both the Wu-Tang Clan's original craft and El Michels' ability to interpret and perform. The original track is from Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., Raekwon's 1995 solo debut LP with guest artist and fellow Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah. Produced by the RZA, this was a concept album tracing the story of inner city trafficking, and so the overall sound of the album was intentionally haunting and cryptic. El Michels' version of the track keeps in line with this theme, featuring a prominent funk guitar melody, a backup horn section and a gritty, retro production quality typical of the El Michels sound that gives us the feeling of watching a classic mobster movie. Rae and the whole Wu-Tang Clan would certainly be pleased with this redux version.

def jux...junk science
Junk Science is made up of Baje One on the mic and DJ Snafu on the beats. This duo met in the mid 90's while attending high school in Brooklyn, NY and immediately started making music. It was not until 2003 that the pair buckled down to record their debut LP Feeding Einstein. The album received little notice until 2005, when Baje and Snafu won Scion's NextUp Song Contest with their track "Roads." The video for this song caught the attention of DJ Ese, founder of Embedded Records, who signed Junk Science that year and released Feeding Einstein to critical acclaim. 2007 saw the release of their sophomore effort Gran'Dads Nerve Tonic on Definitive Jux Records, which they aligned with a promotional limited edition beer created by Brooklyn brewery Six Points Craft Ales. Their third album, A Miraculous Kind of Machine, is due out later this year.

Tanya Morgan
We at the Mill love Tanya Morgan...nah she aint a porn star but a trio of dudes that put it down nerks.
Tanya Morgan is back with their third project, Brooklynati, following the success of Moonlighting and The Bridge. Since Von Pea, Ilyas, and Don Will formed Tanya Morgan in 2003, they have received high praise from media elites such as Spin, The Source, XXL Magazine and a resounding seal of approval from the blogosphere. Considered by many to be our generation's torchbearers for De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest, Tanya Morgan will once again put their skills on display with the unique hip-hop Americana sounds of their Brooklynati album this spring.

YOU LUCKY MILLERS...I HAVE A GEM FOR YOU.........
El Michels Affair, at the core of the retro-soul and funk movement, is led by saxophonist/organist Leon Michels and producer/engineer Jeff Silverman. The group began as a series of informal collaborative sessions with musicians from top-selling acts Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, The Budos Band, and Antibalas. In 2005, the group released their debut effort, Sounding Out The City on Truth & Soul, a label co-founded by Silverman and Michels. Since the album's '05 release, the El Michels sound has been prominent on successful collaborations with Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Just Blaze, Adele, and Iggy Pop. Furthermore, in 2007, a horn part written and performed by Leon Michels was lifted and used for Jay-Z's "Roc Boys," the lead single from the American Gangster album. Most famously, however, is El Michels 2007 tour with Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon, which led to the recording of two widely successful 7" instrumental singles for "C.R.E.A.M." and "Bring Da Ruckus." Since then, El Michels Affair has diligently been in the studio, interpreting fifteen of some of the most legendary and well-know Wu-Tang Clan songs, including "Can It All Be So Simple," "Protect Ya Neck," "Cherchez La Ghost," and "Incarcerated Scarfaces" for their upcoming sophomore album, Enter the 37th Chamber, due in stores on April 21st via Fat Beats Records.
El Michels Affair Career Highlights:
• Horn line written and performed by Leon Michels (for Menahan Street Band) lifted by Jay-Z for "Roc Boys," the lead single from his Grammy-award winning, platinum album, American Gangster.
• Produced track "Right As Rain" from singer Adele's Grammy-award winning, debut album, 19.
• Produced officially commissioned remix of Amy Winehouse's "Love Is a Losing Game" from Grammy-award winning, multi-platinum album, Back In Black.
• Worked with super-producer Just Blaze on song included on forthcoming Saigon album, The Greatest Story Never Told.

New..Tonex
The Mill is getting its mack on and bumping some summer flavas, in our first year we have goone hard, so we are gonna smooth it out a tiny bit.
It's usually hit or miss with artists attempting genre crossovers, but Tonex has made this move with grace. In his latest single, "Love Me 4 Me," Tonex's sensual vocal chorus blends seamlessly with the R & B melody and syncopated rhythm. Also, with each listen you'll discover new vocal runs characteristic of the gospel tradition. Although R & B and gospel combinations have long been done by other artists, Tonex distinguishes himself by adding unexpected elements, such as a hip-hop beat, to his songs. "Love Me 4 Me" is another example of Tonex's unique ability to successfully combine sounds and blend genres.
Buy here
Unspoken the new album will be released March 17th via Battery Records, a newly formed imprint under Sony Music Entertainment’s RCA/ JIVE Label Group umbrella.
