Dutty Wine

When we at Da 'Mill have a piss up, we like to think we do it in style. A friend of mine who is a proper wino sent me a bottle of 2006 Shirvington Shiraz for us to guzzle. From what I gather it's pretty hard to find at the right price but he has a hook up with APW (Australian Portfolio Wines) in the UK, who managed to source him a couple of crates.

Shirvington Wines are one of the most vibrant producers in McLaren Vale, Australia, receiving bare critical acclaim for every vintage so far produced. Robert Parker (big wig american wine dude, he basically runs shit) has given top scores to both the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wines for the first few vintages.

The 2006 Shiraz which we tried is dope! Fermented in the barrell and aged for 14 months in new oak, with the barrels 90% American and 10% French. The wine itself is purple in colour, revealing a splendid bouquet of high grade, graphite, bacon, tube steak, and blueberry. This Shiraz is off the hook and should drink well through 2026, cop some if you can...
